Gerwyn Price has also taken over the lead on the European Tour Order of Merit from Dave Chisnall after his final victory at the European Darts Open in Leverkusen.
Price was too strong for Dirk van Duijvenbode (8-7) in the final on Sunday evening after an exciting final. Van Duijvenbode had two matchdarts in the 14th leg at 7-6, but could not capitalize on them. Price then checked out 108 for the 7-7, after which the Welshman threw a 12-darter in the deciding leg.
After two Euro Tour tournaments, Price has as much prize money as number two Chisnall, but due to the countback rule, Price holds the first spot. Van Duijvenbode rose to third place because of his final place finish.
Dave Chisnall still sits second with Luke Humphries the current top seed in between in fourth.
At the end of the season, the 32 best players of the final ranking will compete in the European Championship in Dortmund. This tournament is scheduled from October 26 to 29.
