Price pleased Copenhagen withdrawal paid off with Gibraltar Darts Trophy win: "I knew what I had to do"

Gerwyn Price produced a blockbuster display to emphatically smash Mensur Suljovic 8-0 in the final of the Gibraltar Darts Trophy.

It is a double win for Price on the European Tour this season as he performed superbly throughout the weekend.

Also it is a title which vindicates his recent withdrawal from the Nordic Darts Masters after his first round win with injury doubts swelling around the World Number One.

"It's been a brilliant weekend," said Price.

"In the final Mensur wasn't the player I know he can be, but I played fantastic in the semi-final, final and quarter-final so I'm thankful for that.

"This weekend I played really well all the way through and I think I'm a deserved winner."

“It wasn’t very good in the World Cup, I could feel it then,” added the Welshman. “[The Nordic Masters] wasn’t a ranked event, and I knew I had to prepare for this week, next week and all the big tournaments coming up.

“It worked. A lot of people doubted what I did but I knew what I had to do.”
