The final at the Nordic Darts Masters on Saturday night was between
Michael van Gerwen and
Fallon Sherrock. The latter benefited earlier in the tournament from a withdrawal of
Gerwyn Price.
Sherrock was supposed to play Price in the Quarter-Finals, but the Welshman had to withdraw due to an elbow injury.
The Queen of the Palace then beat Dimitri van den Bergh 11-10 after a sensational comeback, before leading 6-3 in the final against Van Gerwen. However the Dutchman claimed the title with a 11-7 win.
Mighty Mike therefore won his first title of the season. After the final, Price posted a playful comment on Instagram Stories. ''I gifted this to Fallon and Michael... It won't happen every week'', the reigning world champion wrote.
That comment led to criticism from darts fans on social media, after which Price felt it necessary to clarify his response. ''Last post is called humour, #chillout'', sent The Iceman, taking the sting out of his first post.
