Price reveals charity boxing match cancelled: "I’ve had medical advice not to do it"

Gerwyn Price was part of MDA's Armageddon exhibition over the weekend and spoke to Online Darts as part of it regarding his injury and the road to finding out he did in fact fracture his hand.

"I knew I was struggling with my hand and then they told me it wasn't broke. I thought I'd just plod on, nothing's wrong with it. I went for a second opinion and actually told me it was broke, as soon as I knew that it was like demons in my head, I didn't know what to do for the best," said Price to Online Darts.

"The hardest part of the game is the top two inches, throwing darts is easy, it's the way you think about things. When my mind's not right, then my darts don't go right and that's what it's been the last couple of things. As soon as I know my hand's 100 percent and my mind's back 100% then I'll be back."

"It doesn't hurt but I'm not holding a dart right, I'm not releasing a dart right.”

Charity boxing cancelled

But it has had a knock on effect on his boxing endeavour with his charity boxing match cancelled.

“I’ve pulled out the boxing now, I’ve had medical advice not to do it so probably that was on the back of my mind. I thought I could mix both and that hindered my game as well as my hand. Boxing’s behind me now, it’s only darts from now on in.”

Also in the interview, he pre revealed that he won't be playing in the Austrian Darts Open which was confirmed on Wednesday.

“I’m going to take some time out, I’m going to miss one or two of the Europeans coming up. I don’t think I’m going to go Graz. I’m going to burn myself out. Once the Premier League is over, recharge my batteries.”
