Rob Cross recorded a handsome tournament victory at the Baltic Sea Darts Open in Kiel last weekend. He defeated world champion Luke Humphries in the final 8-6, but also delivered another sterling performance.
The former world champion concluded the tournament with a tournament average of over one hundred. Voltage' had started the tournament with a 6-2 victory over Maik Kuivenhoven with an average of 102.59. This was followed by victories over Stephen Bunting (6-5 with 103.21 average), Ritchie Edhouse (6-5 with 97.61 average) and Madars Razma (7-4 with 99.00 average). In the final won against Humphries, Cross recorded an average of 105.56.
Cross' tournament average eventually ended at 101.59, while Humphries also posted a tournament average of above 100 with 100.17. Cross also additionally reached eighteen 180 scores during the event in Kiel, hitting 44.59 percent of his darts at doubles.
Cross is only the eighth player since 2018, when the format for final stage Euro Tour tournaments was expanded, to win a Euro Tour tournament with a tournament average above 100. Michael van Gerwen, Peter Wright, Gerwyn Price, Devon Petersen, Michael Smith, Luke Humphries and Luke Littler also all managed to win Euro Tour final stage tournaments with a tournament average above 100.
