Rusty-Jake Rodriguez hit his stride at the 21st tournament of the PDC
Development Tour 2023. The third member of the Rodriguez family captured his seventh title on the PDC youth circuit.
Without too much trouble, 'RJR 3' qualified for the quarterfinals after wins over Ben Phillips (4-2), Connor Watt (4-2), Maikel Mossou (4-1), Leighton Bennett (4-1) and Sam Cromwell (4-2).
Then Rodriguez faced a little more opposition. He narrowly settled Nathan Girvan (5-4) and then beat Dylan Slevin 5-3 for a final place. In the final match, Rodriguez was too strong 5-3 for Dominik Gruellich.
The PDC Development Tour is considered the
training institute of the PDC. Talented players have the opportunity on this circuit to further develop their gift. Players may enter as soon as they reach the age of sixteen. They may then compete up to and including the season in which they turn 24.
Distribution of prize money during PDC Development Tour
15,000 pounds of prize money is paid out per tournament, so the prize pool for the entire circuit of a total of 24 tournaments consists of 360,000 pounds.
From reaching the last 64, players can earn prize money, starting with 75 pounds. That amount then increases each round. The winner collects a handsome £2,500.
