Six of the best for Wright against Penhall as Smith wins Bull battle over Cuming to complete Quarter-Final

The last Quarter-Final is set at the New South Wales Darts Masters with Michael Smith and Peter Wright through to the final day in Australia, as only Simon Whitlock of the local representatives moved through.

Smith was a comfortable winner in the last game of the night as he won The Bull battle with the also similar monikered Mal Cuming. It was a 6-2 win for 'Bully Boy'.

He hit a sole maximum, but was far superior with a 93 average and 6/14 on the outer ring despite Cuming himself hitting a high checkout of 112 and 2/4 on the doubles only with a 78 average in the end.

Fairly close early on, Smith surged away at 3-2. He won three straight legs with Cuming not getting another shot at the double. Concluded by Smith with a 72 checkout.

While for Wright, he had to produce a comeback from going down early on against former Tour Card holder previously from Cornwall, but now living in Australia, Darren Penhall.

As a result, he was dangerous opposition due to his pedigree and went 2-0 up in the early stages but Wright found his feet. He made it 2-1 with a break of throw and soon leveled up at 2-2. He found his way into the lead at 3-2 with a 48 checkout before hitting two double 20's for 80 to go 4-2 ahead.

A double 16 and double eight off 31 sealed the deal from 'Snakebite' who would've been fearing the worst after being dumped out by Jonny Tata last week in Hamilton. But he remains involved in the tournament, with only Nathan Aspinall going out today of the PDC eight.

Damon Heta had the best performance of all with a 106 average in seeing off Joe Comito on his return home, while Simon Whitlock dealt the best display for the crowd seeing off Aspinall in a thrilling decider.
