One of the North American hopes at the US Darts Masters, Alex Spellman is keen to make a good impression at Madison Square Gardens in New York.
"I'm kind of known for being stoic in my approach to the game. And I'd thought I'd have started feeling some of the nerves, but at the moment I don't really feel much of anything," says Spellman, who will be making his World Series of Darts debut, to Weekly Dartscast. "I'm sure the second I walk into the arena that will start to creep in a little bit."
Spellman faces Luke Humphries in the first round but he first found out he had qualified for the event all the way back in October courtesy of his win on the CDC Tour.
"Around that time last year, I was going through some issues with work. I didn't know how that was going to go and my game took a hit," he explains. "It wasn't until April that I left my job. But ever since then my game has been on the rise."
