Martin Schindler is through to the third round of the 2022/23 PDC World Darts Championship and has sealed his first victory on the Alexandra Palace stage after seeing off Martin Lukeman in a 3-1 sets win.
A superb victory for 'The Wall' as he blocked out 'Smash' with a 170 en route and six 180's. He will now return after Christmas to face Michael Smith.
It was a nervy start from both with Lukeman missing one dart at double nine for the set in the deciding leg before Schindler returned for double two to take the opening set.
But Lukeman returned to level up after the German had missed two darts at double to go 2-0 up. The flourish though came in reaching two as he went 2-1 up sealing it in style with a 170 checkout.
He broke to begin the next set with Lukeman's resolve coming in the form of a 71 checkout for a 12-darter but a 92 checkout on double 14 saw him win it after Lukeman had missed a dart for the decider.
