Liam Maendl-Lawrance, Matt Campbell and Jose Justicia secured a spot in the last 32 at the
International Darts Open late Friday afternoon.
Richie Burnett was surprised in the first round by Maendl-Lawrance, who was making his debut on the Euro Tour. The German quickly left an indelible impression on Burnett, but not in a positive way.
Maendl-Lawrance was particularly slow walking toward the oche each time before throwing his darts, while the throws themselves were not done at too fast a pace either. Burnett was visibly annoyed in the background. The Welshman then surprisingly went down 6-4 against his German opponent.
Campbell was too strong for Keegan Brown in the first round, 6-4, after the Canadian made up a 4-2 deficit. Justicia also was in a comeback as he came from 4-1 down.
