These bizarre records teen sensation Luke Littler has already broken in just six months

Luke Littler has quickly emerged as one of the absolute stars of the darts world. Thanks to the teenage sensation's achievements, a veritable media hype has erupted in the darts world.

Littler is defying all darts laws and stringing together record after record at record speed. Dartsnews.com has listed all the records Littler has already broken in just six months.

Highest average of a World Championship debutant

He could hardly leave a better impression in his debut match at the World Darts Championship than he did against Christian Kist. The Dutchman was completely demolished by "The Nuke".

Littler won 3-0 in sets over Kist, posting an average of 106.12. Never before has anyone thrown such a high average in his first match at the World Darts Championship.

Youngest player with 100+ average at World Darts Championship

Needless to say, his match against Kist immediately produced several other records. He was the youngest player ever to throw an average of over one hundred at the World Darts Championship.

Littler was 16 years and 333 days old when he produced his average of 106.12. Later during the World Darts Championship, he would also throw averages of 105.01, 101.93, 106.05 and 101.13. So at the age of 16, Littler already had five 100-plus averages to his name at Alexandra Palace.

Youngest winner of a match in the first round at the World Darts Championhip

His victory over Kist also makes Littler the youngest ever winner of a first-round match at the World Darts Championship. At the 2007 World Darts Championship, 16-year-old Mitchell Clegg also won a match, but this was a preliminary round match.

Youngest player in World Darts Championship final

This record actually applies to every round, as Littler also became the first player in the second round, third round, fourth round, quarterfinals and semifinals of the World Darts Championship. But for the sake of convenience, let's single out his final place.

Littler eventually lost in the final 7-4 in sets to Luke Humphries, so the record of youngest world champion is not yet held by "The Nuke. However, Littler still has several chances to take over that record. For now, Michael van Gerwen is still the youngest world champion ever at the PDC. He was 24 years and 9 months old when he became world champion in 2014.

Involved in most watched darts match ever on Sky Sports

The World Championship final between Luke Littler and Luke Humphries attracted a whopping 3.71 million viewers on Sky Sports at its peak. This was the highest viewership ever for a non-football-related event.

At its peak, 2.3 million viewers were already tuned in to the match between Littler and Rob Cross in the semifinals. That was already an improvement on the record from 2015, when 1.65 million people watched the final between Gary Anderson and Phil Taylor at its peak.

First ever darter with more than one million followers on Instagram

The teenage sensation unleashed tremendous media attention with his final spot at the World Darts Championship. In several interviews during the World Darts Championship, Littler already revealed that the number of followers on his Instagram was rapidly increasing.

As the first darter ever, Littler managed to gain more than one million followers on Instagram. With currently 1.3 million followers, he has more than twice as many followers as Michael van Gerwen. For "Mighty Mike," the counter currently stands at 540,000 followers. Other well-known darters such as Gerwyn Price (311,000 followers), Gabriel Clemens (266,000 followers), Luke Humphries (218,000 followers), Peter Wright (188,000 followers), Raymond van Barneveld (176,000 followers), Fallon Sherrock (157,000 followers) and 16-time world champion Phil Taylor (92,100 followers) follow at an even greater distance.

Youngest player with nine-darter at senior tournament

In the first leg of his quarterfinal against Nathan Aspinall at the Bahrain Darts Masters, Littler managed to become the youngest player ever to throw a nine-darter at a professional event.

The previous record holder was Michael van Gerwen, who was just 17 years and 298 days old when he threw a nine-darter at the Masters of Darts in 2007. Littler accomplished his feat two days before his 17th birthday.

Youngest player to win a PDC senior title

After throwing his nine-darter at the Bahrain Darts Masters, "The Nuke" would eventually win that World Series tournament as well. This makes him the youngest ever winner of a PDC senior title.

On his way to the title, Littler won over three players in the top five of the world rankings, namely Nathan Aspinall (6-3), Gerwyn Price (7-3) and Michael van Gerwen (8-5).

Incidentally, shortly thereafter, Littler also became the youngest ever winner of a Pro Tour tournament (Players Championship 1 in February) and a Euro Tour tournament (Belgian Darts Open in March).

Youngest ever major-winner at PDC

In winning the Premier League Darts, Luke Littler also became the youngest ever winner of a major at the PDC. In the final of the Premier League, he was too strong for Luke Humphries 11-7.

This is yet another record he takes over from Michael van Gerwen. A record that, moreover, has been sharpened, as Van Gerwen was 23 years, 5 months and 21 days old when he won the World Grand Prix in 2012.

First to throw fastest four nine darters in one calendar year

On his way to his Premier League title, Luke Littler also threw a nine darter in the final. It was already his fourth nine darter of the season. Only Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price ever managed to throw four nine darters in one calendar year.

However, they did not do so as quickly as Littler. Van Gerwen threw his fourth nine darter in September in 2016, while Price achieved his fourth perfect leg in July in 2022. At least Littler has a few more months to become the first darter ever to throw five nine-starters in one year.
