There is no stopping the
Luke Littler hype-train as the 17-year-old has continued to impress, taking the title on his
European Tour debut at the
Belgian Darts Open, hitting a nine-dart in the final vs
Rob Cross as well!
In the first round, Littler survived two matchdarts against Jose de Sousa, but then managed comfortable wins over Krzysztof Ratajski (6-3), Damon Heta (6-3), Jermaine Wattimena (6-2) and Ricardo Pietreczko (7-3) to qualify for the final.
Cross managed to take a 3-1 lead in the final after an 11-darter, 15-darter and a 13-darter. However, via a 14-darter and a 43 finish, Littler came back to 3-3. Both players then held their own leg with a 13-darter, making it 4-4 after eight legs. Cross then rallied for another break via an 80 finish, but Littler immediately broke him back. With a delightful nine-darter, 'The Nuke' then took over the lead again, before Cross hit back with an 11-darter for 6-6. The final victory then seemed to go Cross' way when he managed to throw a 12-darter for 7-6 and needed one more leg. 'Voltage' could not get out in five visits after that, however, and a 15-darter from Littler made it 7-7. The teenage sensation then struck in the decisive leg with a 14-darter.
