Why do players always say they were terrible? 🎙️ @MichaelBridge_ discusses the art of a post-match interview as the panel answer your Twitter questions 📺 #LoveTheDarts
Sky Sports Michael Bridge has interviewed sportsmen and women from a variety of different sports. Something he believes makes darts players stand out is their honesty.
"The beauty of interviewing dart players, even boxers to an extent, not footballers is they don't have a manager, they don't have a press officer next to them, they literally say what they think," Bridge explains to Emma Paton on the Love The Darts podcast.
"I think it's the adrenaline. We catch them seconds after coming off," he continues. "Then you get the written post-match press conferences and the YouTube videos and sometimes they've taken a moment to sit down and reflect, view some stats. They completely change their views on the match."
"There are actually times as well when the interview is live straight after the match and their averages are up there but they aren't able to see it. I think it's an adrenaline answer sometimes," he concludes.
