"They're not going to take me lightly" - Alex Spellman ready to show himself against the world's best after victory in CDC Cross Border Challenge

Alex Spellman has won the CDC Cross Border Challenge. As a result, the American may compete in the US Darts Masters at the iconic Madison Square Gardens later this year.

The Cross Border Challenge is a tournament of the Championship Darts Circuit (CDC, North American division of the PDC), in which players from the USA and Canada compete against each other. Spellman defeated Canadian David Cameron in the final.

"I haven't necessarily been playing my best the last couple months but it started to come together last weekend and that allowed me to play with some confidence here," reflected Spellman in conversation with Online Darts afterwards. "Honestly, I just like playing well more than winning, so I'm glad that I was able to do both this weekend."

So well was the American playing, he actually hit a nine-darter en route to taking the title. Going forward though, Spellman has another major goal this year. "I want that World Championship spot," he explains, as well as noting he has nothing to lose at the upcoming US Darts Masters. "I've played three of the guys that are coming over. I've played Humphries, Littler and Cross. When you've played them before, you know what to expect and you can get comfortable. They know me and they're not going to take me lightly."
