Thornton claims first spot for final group in Modus League

Robert Thornton managed to remain unbeaten on Wednesday during the third day of the latest week of MODUS Online Live League action.

Victories came over Richie Burnett (4-2), Joe Davis (4-3), Darryl Fitton (4-2), Barrie Bates (4-0) and Jamie Caven (4-0). The Scot won the day and first group to move through to Saturday's final.

Burnett and Davis finished second and third respectively and will now play in a new group against three new players on Thursday and Friday evening. These are former World Master, Colin Monk as well as Paul Hogan and Chas Barstow.

The numbers four, five and six who were Jamie Caven, Darryl Fitton and Barrie Bates will then play another new group with Adrian Gray, Diogo Portela and Fallon Sherrock coming into the fray.

They will play on Thursday and Friday afternoon and the top two of these new groups will also qualify for the final group which five players battling it out for the weekly title.

Unlike the previous edition of the MODUS Live League, the games are not played online via a webcam. They are played at a TV studio in Southampton, England and can be followed via various bookmakers and the Online Darts YouTube channel.
