Two tournament records broken during World Matchplay

In the past week we have enjoyed another week of top darts at the World Matchplay. It was a memorable edition, with Michael van Gerwen winning for the third time.

There were also two records broken during this World Matchplay. Never before have so many 180s been thrown as this year. No fewer than 367 maximums were thrown, more than beating the old record of 333 from 2020.

The level was also higher than ever. The tournament average of all players together ended at 96.64. That was an improvement on the record from 2017, which was set at 96.24.
