Niko Springer reached the second round at the
Baltic Sea Darts Open on Friday afternoon thanks to a 6-4 victory over Jermaine Wattimena. Afterwards, the German was very enthusiastic about the level of his game.
Springer had every reason to be, as he recorded an average of over 97, with a finishing percentage of 40%. "It was a tough opponent and I hope I can play like that again tomorrow (Saturday, ed.)," Springer commented afterwards.
In the second round, Springer will take on world champion Michael Smith on Saturday night. "Let's see how it goes. I try to approach every match the same way and I'm not worried. If it goes, it goes, if it doesn't go, it doesn't go. It's all experience I bring with me. Last year I played against Peter Wright, who was then world champion. It's a repeat of that now and I'm looking forward to it."
