Van Gerwen after losing to eventual Premier League champion Clayton: “I'm on my way back now but there's still hard work to do”

Michael van Gerwen couldn’t claim a sixth Premier League Darts title losing to eventual champion, Jonny Clayton with a first semi-final loss in the tournament for the Green Machine.

After claiming the scalp of Mighty Mike, Clayton went on to win the title and post match, he earmarked consistency as the reason why he lost out but that on his route back to the top, he is not there just yet.

"This one is on my chin," he said to RTL7. "I'm on my way back now but there's still hard work to do.

"Jonny played really great. I wasn't consistent enough, he punished me at the right moments. I shouldn't have put him in that position - I gave him the confidence and a great feeling."
