Van Gerwen saw off his past rival 8-4 to reach the top of the table once more and he was in a confident mood speaking to Emma Paton on Sky Sports post match.
“I’m back where I belong. I had to work really hard for that. I have to do the right things for me constantly. Gary and all the players try to fire everything at me."
"Of course I didn't play the best game of my life but I did the right shots at the most important moments and that made me win this game."
"I want to end top of the table and I want to win this tournament. It doesn't matter how many points I have. Even better with crowd now."
He also discussed his defeat to Nathan Aspinall and always being striving for perfection going into the latter half of the Premier League.

"I always put a lot of pressure on myself, everyone who knows me knows that I'm very critical of myself."
"Yesterday was an off day, I had to get used to the crowd a little bit. I was getting a little bit nervous, I didn't play in front of crowds for 15 months but you need to get used to it."
