Van Gerwen breezes into World Grand Prix final with victory over Dobey

Michael van Gerwen is through to the final of the World Grand Prix breezing past Chris Dobey as he aims to become back-to-back champion on the Emerald Isle.

It is a sixth final for Van Gerwen who will face a familiar foe in Dave Chisnall who he has a brilliant record against. The question is: Will Chizzy finally get one over the World Number One or will it be a third major title of the year for Mighty Mike?

MVG claimed the first set in double quick time against Dobey 3-1 and it was an early break for him. Dobey looked to come back in the next set with him going 2-0 up in legs but it was stunning darts from Van Gerwen who produced a 156 checkout to seal it. He continued his tear and went one set away recovering once again to win it 3-2.

He didn't have more issues getting through though with him producing a whitewash final set with an 82 checkout sealing it with his first match dart and not giving the Bedlington ace another chance to get back into the contest.
