Michael van Gerwen stranded in the last eight of the
Hungarian Darts Trophy against
Dave Chisnall. Chisnall will face
Scott Williams in the semi-final.
Van Gerwen led 2-1 thanks to a 12-darter, but saw the next three legs go to Chisnall as 'Chizzy' threw out 63 and 56.
In the eighth leg, Van Gerwen had a chance at the rebreak, but the double 18 was missed. Chisnall retained his break lead via double 7, before 'Mighty Mike' reduced the deficit to 4-5 again with a 76 finish. In the tenth leg, Chisnall was allowed to try to finish it off, but missed his first two matchdarts. Van Gerwen had two more chances for the equalizer, but could not take advantage. Then it was 'Chizzy' who used his fourth matchdart for a spot in the semifinals.
In the last four, Chisnall will take on Scott Williams. In a disappointing match, the Englishman was 6-5 too strong for
Mike de Decker, who therefore missed out on a chance to qualify for the European Championship later this year. The Belgian needed to reach the semifinals to do so because he will miss the last Euro Tour tournament in October.
