Michael van Gerwen came from 9-7 down to see off Luke Humphries in a deciding leg and reach the Quarter-Finals of the 2022
Masters.
Van Gerwen's display saw the Dutchman not at his best but he is still through to a tie with Joe Cullen on Sunday afternoon.
"Too many rusty darts, my focus wasn't really there to be fair. Luke wasn't playing his performance as well, we both have to work really hard to win your legs and to get the right scoring in. I made so many mistakes not only my doubles. You shouldn't put yourself in that position," said Van Gerwen post match.
"If this would have happened to me last year, I probably would have lost this game and now I'm winning so the confidence is there but it has to be better as simple as that."
But one of the main talking points was to do with needle with Luke Humphries where he complained that Van Gerwen was coughing and he said afterwards that it didn't matter anyway as he was so far back.
“He said I was coughing. He was 200 points behind anyway. It’s not too smart for him to make that comment. He can only put himself into problems. No one wants that. You want to win a game fair.”
