The new Netherlands duo of Michael van Gerwen alongside debutant Danny Noppert wasted little time in seeing off Brazil in a 5-1 win to begin their World Cup of Darts campaign.
They will now have Spain next up and Mighty Mike was pleased with what he saw from Noppert on debut.
"It went fine. Danny is a fantastic player and certainly did well. However, he can do even better than what he showed today, but I am confident that he will prove it for the rest of the tournament. Wales and England are of course the top favourites, but we just assume our own strength ", said the number one in the world at RTL 7.
"It took some getting used to for me of course, but I am satisfied that it went well", debutant Noppert said. "I've had an excellent preparation for this tournament and that feels good. This performance gives me confidence for the rest of the tournament."
