Van Gerwen on players taking restrictions seriously during PDC Summer Series: "If you make one mistake it can cause a lot of trouble"

Michael van Gerwen hopes that darts can set an example when it comes to the PDC Summer Series next week after the calamity of the Adria Tour in tennis which saw multiple players including Novak Djokovic test positive.

In darts, the bubble sees precaution exists and Van Gerwen hopes that players take it seriously when the action returns to Milton Keynes.

“I’ve played without an audience before. I’ve done this before in the internet tournament with just two players and a referee in a room. But now it’s different because you need to watch out what you do," said Mighty Mike during an interview with darts1.de.

“If you make one mistake it can cause a lot of trouble. You see this in the tennis tournament with Novak Djokovic."

“If you don’t take things serious it can go wrong. You don’t want to be in that position. You want to know the best for yourself and for the people around you.

I’ve got two little children you don’t want to have any problems at home so everyone needs to take this serious.”
