Van Gerwen out of sorts in Premier League Darts Glasgow defeat: "It was just really bad, full stop"

For Michael van Gerwen, the third night of the Premier League Darts ended in disappointment. The 33-year-old Dutchman went down immediately in his opening match against Nathan Aspinall.
Van Gerwen lost 6-5, dropping to sixth place in the Premier League standings. "Maybe too rushed, maybe too eager. It was just really bad, full stop. It didn't go well throughout the match. I gave him a lot of space unnecessarily. I can blame myself for that. This just sucks," Van Gerwen told Viaplay.
Too little, too late
'Mighty Mike' fell behind 4-1, but then fought his way back to 5-5. "In the last leg I start badly again, that just shouldn't happen. I thought I would be further ahead. We play so many matches and so many tournaments. Unfortunately that's going to happen one day. Couple of good finishes thrown, but in the end I just came up short. I just failed."
