The final has now been set for the 9th Players Championship event of the year with Michael van Gerwen facing Scott Taylor later on this evening to win £10,000 pounds.
Van Gerwen didn't have it all his own way though with Wade having quite a few chances to get in front of the World Number One and potentially get his first win over him in 2 years.
He came through it though with a 96.3 average, 50% on his checkouts with 1 180. Van Gerwen, a four time Players Championship winner this year will face first time finalist Scott Taylor who defeated Jason Lowe.
Taylor himself had a 93.7 average with 43% checkout rate with 2 maximums but will have an uphill task in defeating 'Mighty Mike' in today's final.
