On Saturday, the North American Championship was on the schedule at Madison Square Garden in New York. Eight North Americans/Canadians competed for the title.
The title eventually went to Leonard Gates, who defeated former winner Danny Baggish in the final. Gates also put himself in the spotlight earlier in the weekend by becoming the only North American to win a match at the US Darts Masters, also held at Madison Square Garden.
