Early this month marked the 30th anniversary of the first tournament organised by the World Darts Council (WDC), the predecessor of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC).
To mark the occasion, the PDC posted a summary of 30 iconic moments in the PDC's history. Fans were then allowed to vote for the most iconic moment.
The PDC announced on Tuesday that the moment in which Michael van Gerwen almost threw two nine darters in a row received the most votes.
At the 2012/13 World Darts Championship, Van Gerwen threw seventeen perfect darts in a row in his semi-final against James Wade. In the third leg of the fifth set, 'Mighty Mike' notched a nine darter, then missed the double 12 in the following leg to become the first darter ever to produce two nine darters in a row.
