Harry Ward is through successfully to the second round at the 2020 PDC World Championship after defeating Madars Razma in a real tight affair.

Ward was on the brink of elimination but managed to turn it around to claim victory in a game where neither player was at their best but the PDC ranking winner was able to produce some quality darts at the right time to win.
Ward started well easing to the opening set in consecutive legs; with the Derby youngster hitting 60 percent on the doubles despite only hitting an average of 79.
Razma finally got his first leg on the board from there breaking throw to go 1-0 up; he doubled his advantage with 93 on the bullseye. He finalised the set from there claiming it also in consecutive legs with three 180s so far.
The Latvian continued that up to six legs in a row as he turned the match on it's head to hit the front as he extended his advantage; Ward stayed averaging around 70. He claim a break of throw in the next set early on hitting a 60 checkout to do so.
A 105 checkout meant that he went one away. A hold of throw saw Ward stay involved and he forced the decider; after Razma couldn't serve out the match and he sent it to a final set.
This gave him a catalyst to start motoring and it seemed like Ward was on the verge of claiming an unlikely victory. Razma couldn't hold his throw and Ward hit a 60 checkout for victory.
