The World Grand Prix starts in Leicester on Monday and with Mark Webster who is of course now a commentator looked back on the last few months including the World Matchplay and said he won't write off Michael van Gerwen again.
"I think if you'd offered him a final or a semi-final, he'd probably be like ok we will work with that. He was never at his best but he found a way to win, he played the best stuff at the right time. I didn't think he'd win but I got that wrong, I won't rule him out again, and I won't read too much into his form. He's a big game player," said Webster to Online Darts.
A big talking point has been the World Series and he dispelled the complaints at the line-ups being the same.
"You've got to send the name players out there, I know people will say why can't we send this player, that player. You've got to send them to promote the game because bear in mind we need to promote them then the players will follow on. I still think it was successful, it wasn't a success story like Damon Heta but I think there was some positives."
As well as about the complaints of potential burn out from the players which he gets both sides of the coin.
"You can say there's too many events but you're entitled not to play in them. You don't have to play, I've never experienced it but I understand that you are in charge of your own fate. It's tricky even more I think for the Joe Cullen's and Jonny Clayton's because they don't want to miss out. They're thinking let's keep rising and I get that."
