Luke Humphries will hunt for his first major on Sunday night. 'Cool Hand Luke' defeated his compatriot Joe Cullen 4-0 in the semi-finals of the
World Grand Prix.
For Humphries, it will be his second major final, after losing the final of the UK Open in 2021. "I'm more mature now but I think I was actually playing better in that UK Open," said the 28-year-old Englishman to Boyle Sports. "I don't allow things to get the better of me anymore. I have to keep a straight head tomorrow and not let anything effect. I could 2-0 down, 3-0 down, I'm not going to give in."
"I've got family coming down and I'm not going to let them down. I'm going to give 100% effort. I'm not going to be able to fall over the line tomorrow, I'm going to need a big performance. We'll see what Luke Humphries is made of tomorrow."
The final against Gerwyn Price also has an added pigment, for if Humphries wins, he will take over Price's fourth place in the world rankings. "I don't think he wants that, but I want it big time ao it'squite a fitting final to be honest," Humphries said. "If I can win tomorrow and get to world number 4 then that's another achievement unlocked for me."
