Whitehead began his campaign against Keegan Brown - who as it has been noted is taking a break from his duties in the NHS to be involved tonight - it was 'The Barbarian' though who claimed it in an excellent display which saw him average 97.3 with a high checkout of 120.
He had to play back-to-back and he carried that form over albeit averaging 10 less. He hit a 87 average in a 5-2 win over Mike de Decker which as a result put him in pole position to top the group.
This is due to De Decker being the only other winner so far seeing off the favourite Max Hopp 5-3 and with Whitehead having the German to end the evening, can he seal it in style and reach the second round?
Max Hopp (89.8) 3-5 (94.61) Mike De Decker
Keegan Brown (92.59) 3-5 (97.36) Conan Whitehead
Mike De Decker (87.53) 2-5 (87.58) Conan Whitehead
