Whitlock reveals he was 'distracted' during World Grand Prix semi-final defeat to Van Duijvenbode

Simon Whitlock lost out in the semi-final of the World Grand Prix to Dirk van Duijvenbode who will now take on Gerwyn Price on Monday evening.

Whitlock received criticism for slowing down the game to attempt to unsettle the first time major semi-finalist but he took to Twitter following the match to tell his side.

'The Wizard' said that he was 'distracted' from the very start of his tie with 'The Titan' but that he is not going to explain as he will be perceived as a sore loser.

"Very disappointed with tonight, hard to focus when distracted from the start. No point me trying to explain as will be deemed as sour grapes," said Whitlock.

Despite that though, he was glad to have a good run after only being entered into the tournament last minute as a result of positive COVID tests.

"I was fortunate to be in the event, so to reach the last 4, play amazing in 2 games & move to 15 in the world is a huge positive for me."
