Wright on World Darts Championship bubble: "If we have to stay in the hotel next year I won't be in the tournament"

Peter Wright saw off Ryan Searle in a game which was comfortable at times for the former World Champion as 'Heavy Metal' did not produce.

But for Wright, he will now face Callan Rydz in the Quarter-Finals of the World Darts Championship on New Years Day. He assessed his performance.

"I just couldn't find the pitch, I really struggled with it. I wasn't putting the first dart in comfortable, it just wasn't going. Maybe because I should have used a different set of darts for the first two sets then I might have been alright. Ryan struggled as well, he didn't turn up," said Wright post match.

He looked ahead to facing Rydz and discussed if the pressure of getting to the Quarter-Finals will get to the free flowing Riot.

"I don't think the pressure will get to him at all because he's just up there flowing, enjoying darts. It's good for darts, it's great for the tournament. Hopefully my experience of being there might change things."

He also discussed his New Years Eve plans and the fact that he has not stayed in the hotel which will be the plan next year as well.

"We will just be locked away in our AirBNB and so I ain't got no worries of catching anything because it's just gonna be three of us, we're not gonna go out anywhere. We've got our own food and everything there."

"If the PDC bring in the rule that we have stay in the hotel next year, I won't be in the tournament. I put my foot down this year, I said I'm not staying at the hotel."
