Wright proves too strong for Rodriguez, reaches European Championship Quarter-Finals

Peter Wright continued to do what he needed to do as the favourite for the European Championship after the departure of Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price and he is into the Quarter-Finals in Dortmund after downing Rowby-John Rodriguez.
Wright proved too strong for the Austrian in the end who has had a superb season despite issues off the oche but lost out 10-4 in the end with nine 180's from the World Champion.
Breaking in the very first leg, he consolidated with a 65 checkout at 2-0. Rodriguez kept pace making it 2-2 with a break and a 100 checkout. But starting with a 12-darter, Wright surged away. He won a superb seven legs on the spin to make it 9-2.
Rodriguez finally stopped the rot but only after match darts were missed and consolidated with a 111 checkout but finally after missing the bull for a 167, Wright hit double eight for the win.
