Zong seals seventh Chinese Premier League win of the season as play-offs set up

Xiaochen Zong has won the ninth and last regular matchday of the Chinese Premier League. For the 24-year-old Chinese, it was already the seventh weekly victory. The semi-finals and final will be played this weekend.

Zong, who is unbeaten since his loss in the semi-finals on the first day of play (he also missed one day), beat Zheng Bin 5-0 in the final with an impressive average of 101.55.

In the revamped nine-player tournament, eight players per evening competed in knockout quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final. Zong, who is unbeaten for 21 matches, finishes the regular phase as leader.

Xicheng Han finished second by reaching the final four times, of which he won one. Lihao Wen and Chengan Liu finished in third and fourth position. Wen started the competition as the best, by winning round 1 immediately. After that, Wen reached the finals once more. Liu reached the finals three times, but lost 3 times 5-4.

Each match day, the winner received a $100 bonus. The top four players will play the Play-Offs on Sunday, September 4. The eventual champion will receive $1,500 in prize money and a place in the 2023 PDC World Darts Championship.
