Niels Zonneveld despite a good season overall lost his Tour Card but regained it immediately at
Q-School this past week.
Zonneveld has appeared at the World Championship previously but has outright qualification on his mind instead of through a qualifier.
"My goal for this year is to reach the World Championship through the ranking," said the 22-year-old Dutchman to AD.nl.
Zonneveld also saw his fellow countryman Raymond van Barneveld at work at Q-School. "We will see things from Raymond, he is even better than expected. Not only in terms of his game. I talked a lot with him in Germany and made progress with him. He came across as positive and motivated. He didn't have a single day win and had lost some games, but he handled it well. The pressure on his shoulders was incredibly high and the fact that he took a Tour Card after not playing for a year is very good."
Besides Zonneveld and Van Barneveld, Geert Nentjes also claimed a Tour Card. "There was not much between us now, but Geert Nentjes and I played a lot last year. Raymond not, but he is the better player. He has loads of experience, five world titles. Everyone would like to see him again on TV, he has an incredible number of fans in the Netherlands and beyond."
