Wright hits highest ever average in live broadcast darts match

Peter Wright hit the highest ever recorded average in a live broadcast darts match on Monday afternoon. Snakebite broke Michael van Gerwen's old record, which lasted three years and nearly eight months.

The Scotsman faced Krzysztof Ratajski in the quarter-finals of Players Championship 29. This match was streamed by one of the streaming boards on pdc.tv. Wright whitewashed Ratajski with an astonishing average of 123.53.

That means he just improved the old world record of Van Gerwen. The Dutchman produced a 123.40 average in his match against Michael Smith (7-1).

The highest recorded average remained out of reach. In 2015, Kyle Anderson won with an impressive average of 134.84 against Terry Jenkins (6-1).
