The 2021
British Open will take place on the weekend of 15-17 October 2021 at the Spa in Bridlington and it will be a gold event on the WDF calendar.
With the demise of the BDO, the attention will turn to the likes of the WDF to provide the next step for amateur darts and the British Open is the next tournament to be announced on their calendar.
It will be jointly promoted by the England Darts Organisation, Scottish and Welsh Darts Organisations and will also include the Silver graded British Classic.
It is the seventh event so far to be announced with Gold status which includes the Isle of Man Open, England Open and Welsh Open who will all have double headers with silver events as well.
Three more Gold events will be confirmed in due course for North America, Asia and Australasia.
As was previously announced, the Gold winners alongside Platinum which includes the Dutch Open immediately get passage through to the WDF World Championship with an announcement also set for their showpiece event as well as the World Masters.
While in the Gold events, the four players who reach the semi-finals and the two finalists of the Silver events will receive World Masters spots as per their initial criteria.
