Friday afternoon marks the start of the quarterfinals of the men's and women's tournaments at Lakeside 2023. In both the men's and women's events, the first two quarterfinals are scheduled.
The first match of the afternoon will be between Deta Hedman and Rhian O'Sullivan. Later in the afternoon, Aileen de Graaf and Lorraine Winstanley will also compete for a spot in the semifinals of the women's tournament.
Wesley Plaisier will try to qualify for the men's last four against Dennis Nilsson. At the end of the afternoon it is the turn of title favorite Andy Baetens. The Belgian faces off with Jonny Tata from New Zealand.
This year's tournament is mainly shown online with streams through the channels of the WDF, Winmau and Tungsten Tales the live streams will be made available as well as Ayozat TV on Sky and their website.
The total prize pool for the WDF Lakeside World Championship includes £257,000 in prize money. That is a lot less than in 2022, when £300,000 was paid out.
The main prize for the winner of the men's and women's tournament did remain the same. The winner in the men's will take home 50,000 pounds in prize money. The winner in the women's will receive a check for 25,000 pounds.
