THROWBACK VIDEO: Andy Fordham takes world title at Lakeside in 2004 after final against Mervyn King

From December 2 to 10, the WDF Lakeside World Championship is on the program. In this article, we look back at Andy Fordham's world title in Frimley Green.

Prior to the BDO World Championship in 2004, Andy Fordham managed to reach the semi-finals four times at Lakeside, but each time this round proved to be the end station. In 2004, however, The Viking managed to reach the title match.

After victories over Brian Derbyshire (3-0), Tony West (3-0), Darryl Fitton (5-4) and Raymond van Barneveld (5-4), the Englishman reached the final. In the final match, Fordham took on Mervyn King, who had dealt with Rick Hofstra and Tony O'Shea, among others. Both finalists had yet to win a world title and in the end King would remain at zero as the final was won by Fordham.
