VIDEO: Peter Machin misses double for first nine-dart finish at Lakeside since 1990

Peter Machin was close to his first nine-darter at Lakeside since 1990 Monday afternoon but the darter from Australia missed the double 12 to record a perfect leg.

The former BDO World Trophy winner faced James Richardson in the second round of the WDF World Championship. Machin started the fourth leg of the first set with two 180s. But a subsequent 141 finish fell just short.

As such, Paul Lim remains the only darter to ever throw a nine-dart finish at Lakeside. The darter from Singapore threw a perfect leg at the Lakeside tournament in 1990 during his match against Jack McKenna.
