Wesley Plaisier and Connor Scutt reach semifinals at WDF World Masters in Budapest

There will be a Dutch finalist at the WDF World Masters 2024 in the men's event anyway. Wesley Plaisier and Corne Groeneveld managed to reach the last four and will face each other in the semifinals on Saturday along with Connor Scutt and Kai Gotthardt.

After both Dutchmen made it past the pool phase on Wednesday, they began the knockout phase on Thursday. Plaisier comfortably threw himself into the last 32 after wins over Dennie Olde Kalter and Shaun McDonald, before Plaisier managed to survive matchdarts against Gyorgy Jehirszki (5-4), Barry Copeland (5-4) and Jimmy van Schie (5-4) each time.

Groeneveld also could have been out by now. He withstood match darts against Francois Schweyen (5-4) and Nico Blum (5-4), while Groeneveld did record big wins over Darren Johnson (5-1), Darryl Christie (5-1) and Miroslaw Grudziecki (5-1).

In the other semifinal, Connor Scutt and Kai Gotthardt will compete. Scutt impressed in the quarterfinals with a 110 average win over Jason Brandon (5-1). Earlier in the tournament, Scutt had already won over Jose Angel Molera (5-0), Sybren Gijbels (5-0), James Vanbesien (5-2) and Chas Barstow (4-2). Gotthardt made it to the final four after victories over Krzysztof Kciuk (5-2), Maximilian Czerwinski (5-1), Alexander Masek (5-1), Alexander Merkx (5-3) and Johan Engstrom (5-1).
