Phil Taylor is in the final months of his active career. The 16-time world champion ended his career with the PDC back in 2018, but has since played on the World Seniors Darts Tour.
However, he has not had much success there. Taylor was regularly hampered by physical problems, which is why he went under the knife a few weeks ago. "I've had my operation, everything's fine because a lot of people have been asking me about it. I'm off my crutches now which is great," said Taylor.
"It's been three weeks on Monday. So another three weeks and I'll be on the practice board getting ready for the Seniors. Hopefully now everything will be back to normal, that's the plan."
The now 63-year-old Phil Taylor wants one last shot at a major title
The World Seniors Matchplay is a tournament that was first held in 2022, when Taylor lost to Robert Thornton 12-10 in the final. Last year, Leonard Gates took the win by defeating Jim McEwen 9-6 in the final.
For Taylor, it will be one of his last major tournaments, normally he is sure to also participate in the World Seniors Darts Masters in November.
