Martin Adams wins after comeback over Phil Taylor in possibly the final clash of two darting icons

Martin Adams has qualified for the semifinals of the World Seniors Champion of Champions at the expense of Phil Taylor. The duel between the two darts icons was won 10-9 by 'Wolfie'.

It was possibly the last clash between the two darts legends, who have known each other for many decades. Taylor is saying his final goodbyes after this year, making it unlikely that Taylor and Adams will meet again.

Taylor managed to take a 3-1 lead early in the match, but through a 12-darter, among others, Adams then came out ahead 4-3. However, Taylor then managed to take a 9-6 lead.

However, the 16-time world champion then missed match darts in the next three legs, bringing Adams back to 9-9. Adams then started the final leg with 180 and 140 and finally finished it off with an 18-darter.

In the first quarterfinal, Richie Howson proved far too strong for Leonard Gates. This match was a repeat of last year's final. Then Gates won the title, but this time the American fell far short in scoring.

The first six legs of the match all went to Howson, before Gates took two of the next three. Gates got no further, as Howson then won three more legs in a row, making the final score 10-2 in favor of "The Owl.
