"Phil's a great player, always has been, always will be" - Martin Adams not taking Taylor for granted ahead of Champion of Champions clash

This weekend the World Seniors Champion of Champions gets underway in Blackpool. In the first round, Martin Adams faces off against Phil Taylor.

"I'm looking forward to it!" Adams recently previewed in conversation with WSDT ahead of the tournament getting underway. "It's a different outlook for me now. I've not got any responsibilities and I'm all alone so it's nice get out of that humdrum of sitting alone in the house."

Although Adams reached the final of the World Seniors Darts Championship in 2022, 'Wolfie' is yet to taste major glory on the seniors circuit. "It's up and down at the moment," he says of his current level of play. "I haven't played Phil competitively since Lockdown when we did one of the specials on live stream. I think I won, I'm not sure. Prior to that though, the last we played was in the World Matchplay many years ago."

With this being Taylor's final year playing competitive darts, this could also be the final meeting of two of darts biggest names. "The fact he's retiring is irrelevant really. Phil's a great player, always has been, always will be," Adams says respectfully. "I'm looking forward to it and I absolutely believe I can win. I want to win all the Seniors titles."
