Fordham admitted to hospital due to possible abdominal infection

Andy Fordham was admitted to the hospital at the end of February, according to reports from his wife on his Facebook page.

His wife Jenny reported on February 24 that The Viking is in the hospital; because of a possible infection in his abdomen. On Wednesday, Mrs. Fordham released a new update; in which she stated that the 58-year-old darts legend was waiting for an X-ray; to see if the blockage in his belly was gone.

She expects to be able to give more news on Thursday about the health of the former world champion.

It is not the first time that Fordham has been admitted to the hospital. In 2007 he was treated after breathing problems. The Englishman also had liver problems and lost 108 pounds in weight.

By stopping drinking alcohol, he did not immediately need a liver transplant. A long-term recovery followed, in which the darts icon dropped another sixty pounds.

In 2016, Fordham returned to action during the Grand Slam of Darts, for which he qualified through a qualifying tournament. The Viking managed to win his group match against Wayne Jones, but lost to Adrian Lewis and Michael Smith.
