Former World Championship semi-finalist Alan Glazier passes away

Former World Championship semi-finalist and News of the World finalist, Alan 'The Ton Machine' Glazier has passed away, it has been revealed.

Glazier reached the semi-finals back in 1986 losing out to Eric Bristow in a 5-3 defeat and lost to Bobby George in the News of the World in 1979.

One of the first players to become a full-time professional, he appeared in the very first World Championship in 1978 losing to Alan Evans. He quit the BDO in 1997.

Earlier this year, he was hospitalised after suffering a heart attack and subsequently received treatment for a chest infection relating to COVID-19 but his cause of death isn't yet known.
