Mikuru Suzuki will face off against Laura Turner later this evening at 2022
WDF Lakeside World Championship but she is no longer in possession of her BDO trophy after this was seized earlier this evening, it has been reported.
Wayne Warren's BDO World Championship trophy was seized by the former BDO chairman, Des Jacklin during the Coronavirus lockdown courting criticism for travelling all the way to Wales from their home in Lincolnshire to do so.
'The Miracle' being in Japan seemingly prevented the trophy being seized but Jacklin has got his wish in getting the trophy back this evening leaving Lakeside after being in the venue in recent days to support his wife, Paula Jacklin who went out in the first round against Rhian O'Sullivan.
In a statement from the WDF shortly after this news broke.
"The police were not involved. Des Jacklin requested the trophy for the BDO and an agreement was made between Suzuki’s management team and Des Jacklin and the trophy was handed to Des. No one else was involved."
At the time when seizing Warren's trophy, Jacklin said: "The Police found it to be unlawful for anyone to try and keep the property of the BDO, this is the same for ANY Trophy unreturned."
It is not confirmed whether John O'Shea has handed back his World Masters trophy which was also seemingly unaccounted for at the time.
The BDO Enterprises Ltd (their commercial arm) entered liquidation which essentially ended more than 40 years of history in the amateur game and for any future hearings, these trophies may be needed to pay off any debts.
There will be new trophies also confirmed by the WDF that will be used going forward and will be unveiled this week at the Home of World Darts.
