De Zwaan shocks Van Gerwen again as World Number One dumped out of World Matchplay

Jeffrey de Zwaan has done it again! He has knocked out Michael van Gerwen to throw the World Matchplay wide open at the first round stage.

De Zwaan did so in style as despite being outscored in stages he took out the shots at the right time which is what you need to do to knock out Van Gerwen.

It is one of the biggest shocks in 25 years of the tournament though as he subjects Mighty Mike to a first round exit for the first time since 2009. In terms of averages, despite being knocked out as he often does when he gets beat Van Gerwen averaged more than his opponent. He hit a 97.88 average compared to a 93.23 from the Black Cobra.

The big problem was his doubles though which was at 35.29% with 62% from the victor. Despite this though it was no 180's from the Leidschendam native which shows that the doubles won it for him.
